But, yeh, you were close in your Louise remedy. Just the opposite if you had an earache - Mom would pour sweet oil in a metal spoon, heat the bowl of the spoon with a match or lighter until it was BOILING, and then pour it in your ear. We each only fell for that once, but she insisted we do it to her all the time when she had an earache. BOILING, I shit you not. Thus ends my ear remedies/maladies.
